Impact Weapons Counter Measures

Impact weapons are among the most common tools used in acts of violence.

Whether it is a stick, bat, hammer, crowbar, torch, bottle, or other improvised object, an impact weapon can generate devastating force and cause life-changing injuries within seconds. The reality is that many everyday items can become weapons when placed in the hands of an aggressor.

Our Impact Weapons Counter Measures course is designed to provide students with a realistic understanding of impact weapon threats and practical strategies for increasing their chances of surviving a violent encounter. Drawing on principles from Pekiti Tirsia Kali, TRICOM, military combatives, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and real-world operational experience, students learn how to recognise threats, manage distance, control the attacking limb, and create opportunities to escape and reach safety.

This is not stick fighting.

This is self-preservation.

Students will learn:

  • Understanding the realities of impact weapon violence
  • Threat recognition and pre-contact indicators
  • Awareness, avoidance, and de-escalation strategies
  • Understanding range, timing, and weapon trajectory
  • Movement and positioning principles
  • Managing reactionary gaps and distance
  • Limb control and weapon-bearing arm management
  • Tactical clinch concepts against armed aggression
  • Emergency responses to common attacks
  • Escaping and disengaging from dangerous positions
  • Casualty considerations and immediate trauma priorities

Training is delivered through progressive drills, pressure-tested exercises, and realistic scenario-based training designed to develop decision-making, composure, and practical skill under stress.

Whether you are a civilian seeking practical self-protection skills, a security professional, emergency responder, or someone responsible for the safety of others, this course provides a reality-based approach to one of the most commonly encountered armed threats.

The objective is not to defeat the attacker.

The objective is to recognise the threat, make effective decisions under pressure, survive the encounter, and get home safely.

Because when an impact weapon is involved, distance, timing, and positioning can mean the difference between injury and survival.
